As a mum of 2 young boys I know how hard it can be to fit exercise around family life, everything can seem to be against you finding time to train. Family, work, other commitments always come first.

This is why I decided to create KBH Training and offer clients the opportunity to work out in their own homes or local community space (Parks etc) or at Fitness Muscle World gym in Horbury. The freedom of training without the need to spend money on expensive monthly gym memberships, tying you into long contracts.

The history bit…

After finishing Sports Science degree at University I decided to pursue a career in Outdoor Education. I completed an intensive practical based course and gained a variety of outdoor and adventurous activity based instructor qualifications. I worked in this field for a number of years eventually progressing to personal development work with a variety of Educational Charities whilst I completed my Post 16 Teaching Qualification.

In 2009 my first son was born. I suffered a partial slipped disk during this pregnancy, thankfully I stayed mobile and was determined to build back my strength and fitness. Since his birth I have continued my fitness journey and education, deciding to gain further fitness based instructor qualifications. I completed my Level 2 Gym Instructor course in 2011, along with my Group Studio Cycling and Adapting Exercise for Ante / Post Natal Participants qualifications. I completed my Level 3 Personal Trainer qualification as well as selection of specialist fitness and sports modules. The Kettlercise and Kettlebell Level 1 & 2 qualifications were natural inclusions after introducing Kettlebells into my own training during 2011.

After falling pregnant with my second child in early 2012 I continued my Kettlercise classes until November 2012. My 2nd son was born in January 2013, a fantastic start to the new year!

Exercise Experience…

I have delivered exercise and fitness classes to clients for the last 7 years.

I have spent the last 20+ years personally using gym equipment and participating in various organised classes. Alongside activities in a gym environment, sports have formed part of my life since I was 10 years old (playing netball, competitive level hockey and rowing for my university). During my time as the rowing team captain I ran circuit training sessions for club members alongside water based training. I have had involvement in a number of adventure sports including mountaineering, rock climbing, canoeing, mountain biking and caving. I include various activities into my own training including running, cycling, hill walking, weight / strongman training and kettlebells and have taken part in a number of races and events; Harewood House and Longhorn half marathons (2017) Stockton Sportive (75 miles 2017) Yorkshire Lasses Sportive (103 miles 2017) Stanford Hall Half Marathon (2014), The Major Series (North 2013), various 10km events, Tough Guy (twice – what was I thinking!), World Tin Bath Race (Isle of Man), The Great Kinder Beer Barrel Race (Edale, Derbyshire) and the Hathersage Hilly Triathlon.

I also founded the Comets fitness group for women in 2016 and am a UKA Leader in Running Fitness as well as a Level 1 ride leader with British Cycling. I regularly deliver led runs, bike rides, skills and drills and circuit sessions for this amazing group of ladies.

I started training for and entering Strongwoman competitions in late 2014. I competed in a number of events gradually working on technique and building strength. This corresponded with moves up the leaderboard. I managed to win the XL Strength Games Novice womens event in 2015 with the legend Mark Felix judging many events! I also won the PTS Strongest Novice and won my Northern Qualifier for Englands Strongest Woman in 2016, however an injury prevented me competing in the final. I am currently training towards the Northern Qualifiers for Englands Strongest woman in April 2018.
